Re: The obd1/4l60e fix works!!!

I'm sorry guys, I haven't had the chance to get back online since I started this post. This fix was tried by Ed a couple years back but it didn't work, which is why I went the 700r4 route in the first place. Well apparently the fix involves changing around the way the computer is set to command the tranny to shift. Unfortunately I don't know exactly how it was done as I have no experience with any of this computer stuff. There were a couple things that Ed didn't change which is why the fix didn't work the first time. It was a costly mistake because of how much it costed me to have the 700 built and now this 4l60e.

Believe me, as long as I've been having this problem, and knowing how many other people on here have had this same problem, I would have no problem posting exactly what was done. I'll try to find out as much info as possible and post it as soon as it comes.

I'm excited as can be to have my car running properly and nothing would make me happier than to have everone who has had this same problem, get theirs fixed and working like mine is now. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful but I'll try.

I guess you mean "letting the computer shift itself" fix?

The OBD-I 4L60E fix where you could cut computer power to the tranny and make the shifts yourself by manually shifting it with a semi-manual valve body has been around for years.

I didn't know about any other 'fixes' before and in fact I started a post a couple years back and no one new of any sure fire fixes besides going with the obd2 computer and/or 700r4 tranny. But yes you're right, the tranny does shift by itself now.

Should have listened to me 3-4 years ago, then. I was constantly talking about it on LT1 Tech, but alot of people didn't want to manually shift their cars because of bracket racing.

I wouldn't have had a problem manually shifting my car when racing but I definitely wouldn't have wanted to do it all the time. I'll see if I could pull up my old advanced tech post and see if you had suggested that then.

I guess we were one of the select few that used the kit.

I did know of a kit back then but heard that the cost was pretty high. Around $700 if I remember correctly. I don't know if this is the same kit you're referring to. A little off the subject, Derrick, what size cam were you running when you ran 12.0s?

It's not nearly $700, and not really a "kit". It's more of a trick mixed with a little ingenuity.

Derrick has a 233 @.050" .550 cam on a 113.

Are his heads fully ported?

I'm running a cam motion 232/232 .560/.560 on a 113 lsa. Heads are locally ported. A far cry from a set of AI's.

I never had any problems with my obd1 conversion and 3000 stall. but I can send you my .bin file if you would like to look at it. Send me an e-mail at tibby50@hotmail.com and I'll reply with the file attached.

SO exactly what is the OBD1 "fix"??????
I have the vacuum modulator in the tranny and a 94 PCM, car is not running yet, but would like to know what to prep for.

Re: The obd1/4l60e fix works!!!

FWIW, the same program that was installed in my computer was installed in another '94. His car too was having the shifting problem. The program didn't work. The only difference between his car and mine is the vacuum modulator in my tranny.
