The obd1/4l60e fix works!!!
The obd1/4l60e fix works!!!
Finally. After 2 years,2 tranny changes, and 2 motors, I can now have my everyday driveability back. Today I was able to pull off a 1.57 60' and my car shifted with no problems. Unfortunately the 30 mph headwind kept me from seeing any new bests but I'm happy as hell this problem has now been solved. A couple years back, anything below a 1.67 60 would've sent the car into limp home mode and only a quick restart would've cleared everything out. It had gotten to the point where I finally said, screw the 4l60e, and went with a 700r4. Unfortunately/fortunately, things didn't work out too well with the 700, and after hearing that there may have been a fix for the 4l60e, decided to give it another try. Nuf said.

Glad to hear about that fix...I had problems with that on my Impala with anything better than a 1.79 when I was trying to use an OBD1 PCM conversion. What did you do to fix the problem ?
Re: The obd1/4l60e fix works!!!
pcmforless.com is supposed to have a software fix for this as does EW. pcmforless.com worked for a friend with a OBD1 swap in a 96 Impala with 3.73s and a 3000stall Edge he was hitting limp mode till he got an update for the stall then Bryan fixed it.
Re: The obd1/4l60e fix works!!!
It's only a big secret until someone reads the PCM that it's on. Even if it's something hidden, that program can be used then all other tables imported to it. All someone needs is a good BIN with the fix and use that as the base....
I have heard and even used with what I think was success the following:
Set MPH for shifts in kickdown low and use the rpm to make the car shift. This works on some cars but not all. I do know that if you can find the part in the BIN that has to do with the allowed slippage in the trans and modify it that fixes it, too.
BTW: My wife's convertible has a Vigilante 3200 in it and she has never had the high stall problem. It only runs 12's so that may have something to do with it.

I would like to know ..as I have had the PCMFORLESS FIX and maybe he has found something else out since the second try on my PCM....But when I sent mine to have it tuned the first and second time it didn't work on my car...So I am using OBD-2....But would like to use my OBD-1 seems to run really good but will not shift. I am looking for 11's with just a cam my lil cc305 .....I think it could be done if it would shift with the OBD-1 computer done by Bryan....So if there is something that will work...I am gonna try it.....Not a secret just something else to try in my situation....
Re: The obd1/4l60e fix works!!!
pmcforless tried twice before to fix it for me with no luck. He sent me a 3rd try but I never got to try it before pulling the motor. I'm running a 3600 yank and pull 1.64-1.66 60fts. I won't know either until I hit the track if its fixed or not, and the track is closed here until next spring.

If anyone has a tunercat bin of their PCM with the "fix" applied I'll post the differences. I'd like to know the "fix" too. It's the only thing holding me back from a higher stall converter...
