For the pcm to work properly and be a true OBDI conversion there has to be a resistor soldered in on the pcm. The car will not run right without it. Im not sure exaclty where it has to be done but my buddy does.
Its going into a 94 Z28, the engine is from a 97 Firebird..... the harness was chopped...
I never heard anything about any soldering??
97WS6SCharged... Did you have to do anything about the OPTI? or any sensors?
Thanks,
Joel

Only thing I can think of that you would need a resistor for would be the VATS, but that can be disabled by reflashing the computer.
I didn't have to modify a thing. Just unplugged my OBDII computer and plugged in the OBDI. Hooked up my laptop and started hitting keys.

Like I said, Im not exactly sure what it was for but I think it was more important than the VATS. I got the OBDI conversion from pcmforless and my buddy wanted to see what the difference was so he took the pcm apart. He then discovered the extra resistor that had been soldered in for whatever reason Im not sure. I can find out if no one here replies about it before I get the info.
The resistor is for the knock sensor. If you use the knock sensor from the 94 you'll be ok. If you use the one from the 97 you need the resistor. I just got a computer back that Ion at madz28 put one in for me.
You can read about the conversion package here http://www.madz28.com/9697.php
