O2 Sensors and Alcohol
O2 Sensors and Alcohol
I've been talking to a few local guys that are running wild setups and are passing emissions and all of them say te secret is to run a 1:5 ratio of alcohol:gas at 1/4 tank right before the test. These guys are passing with pretty aggressive cams and no cats/egr/air.
I already failed before because I really needed to do a tune up on the car. So before I go in again I am doing plugs/wires/O2 and to make the job easier I am going to add some Pacesetters with y pipe.
One of the guys I talked to mentioned something about my O2s with the alcohol. Will my new O2s get screwed up if I run some alcohol thru the engine? I know gasoline already has some alcohol in it but not as much a 1:5 mix. Should I run my stock O2s (120k) before the test then change them out or will I be fine?

Re: O2 Sensors and Alcohol
I would try to run the stockers first. The last thing you want to do is foul up new O2s... I don't know if it will, but I wouldn't risk it. IMO, even if all is well after, you never know if their poor little lives have been shortened...
