o2 sensors

Okay sorry if this has been asked before, I did a search a couple of times but did not find the answer I was looking for. I want to change my o2 sensor's I already know to buy ac delco o2's sensors as they are the best, my question is I have one cat, how many o2's do I need to purchase? Also will it be a simple installation, from what I think will I just have to unplug the old ones and plug in the new ones, please correct me if Im wrong.
Thanks

Re: o2 sensors

your car has 2, one side is in the manifold and one side is in the y-pipe.

Theres a discussion about this in General Tech Forum under O2 Sensor.

Re: o2 sensors

Unplugging them is the simple part. Breaking them loose from the manifold and Y-pipe so they can be unscrewed is the tricky part. There isn't a lot of room to reach them, and its best if you can get an "O2 sensor" socket on there. Having the exhaust system hot is supposed to make it easier to get them out.

Re: o2 sensors

Put some antiseize on the O2 sensors,if you ever have to take them off it will be easy.

Re: o2 sensors

The AC/Delco sensors come pre-coated with the correct electrically conductive anti-sieze compound. You should not add any more. Excessive amounts can find their way into the sensor and damage them.
