O2 Sensors......

Hello....
I've got True Dual exhaust, no catalyc converter, the O2's are on the headers, I've got 10.7:1 to 11.0:1 compression...... Now here's the deal, I'am running this car on the track like 5-6 times a year, I feel it needs a better gas. My pump gas is 94 octane, I've access to a lot of Race gasoline such as VP and Sunoco but none of them is Lead free There's a major problem for me to import gas from USA, so I was thinking how I could get away with it, using leaded gas
I will be running with open headers (I think that should help the O2's). My O2 sensors are OEM replacement from Goodwrench (Spelling?!?). Am I gonna kill my O2's right away or could they stand it?? Mixing it 50/50 or?? Please, give me some input on this

Re: O2 Sensors......

where the heck are you located?? 94 octane gas should be more then suffiecent, unless your compression is like 13:1 or something.

have you tried just adding in ocatane booster?

Re: O2 Sensors......

Ohh yes, I live in Iceland, cold air and track is about 100 ft. above sea level

So you're saying that 94 (PON number) octane should be fine?? I could be wrong, I'am more used to work on and race cars with iron heads...

Re: O2 Sensors......

I'll see what I can find, might be a shop here that sells octane booster from NOS (that's what's on the bottle, I though that company was out of business).

Re: O2 Sensors......

Get an extra set of O2 sensors that you use only when running on leaded fuel. The sensors are rated for 50 hours exposure to lead, so running them only at the track shouldn't be a problem. I have my original O2 sensors in my headers, but the only purpose they are serving is to plug up the holes in the headers. My engine is controlled by a MoTeC ECU running speed-density in open loop... no O2 sensor feedback. But, I can still monitor the stock O2 sensors because they are still hooked up to the stock PCM, used only for VSS/speedometer and the IAC control. After 4 years of running many gallons of VP Fuels C-16 (117 octane, 6 grams per gallon lead) through the engine, the O2 sensors still appear to be working, although one of them is reading a bit on the low side.

If you only use that set of sensors for the track a few times a year, when running leaded fuel, you will be fine.

NOS is still in business... but it is owned by Holley.
