o2 sensor harness question

i have a new car, 94 fomula

previous owner put on long tubes, has crappy extention made for pass side o2.
its cut the extended wire small gauge wire and butt conectors, also grounding out on the starter...

best way to fix?

cut wires off, repair harnes, buy extentions... any other method that will be better?
the car has a drivability issue and i think this is my problem.

You say passener side---I thought that you only had one cat, i.e. you don't have one on the driver's side do you. Check SHhbox.com for pic of 02 wires. I guess it's ok to splice wires as long as you don't lose and power at the splice. Of course, I believe that an extension would have been the better choice. JMHO

the car has jet hot long tubes and a custom shop made dual system, 3 inch dual cats, 3" x and 2.5" chambered mufflers to the rear. one cat was blow through and the other was intact, i went ahead and hollowed the other cat out so the pressure would be even, now im gonna repair the harness, i have heard o2 harness length and wire quality are important to get the best reading possible. i wanted to find the best way to fix the harness. im like you the best way is to add extentions, but i didnt get to make that choice. now im left with the clean up...

pita

that was a pain!
i repaired the harness today, took me about an hour and a half to change 8 butt contectors to soldered conections...
i cant wrap my head around any one whod cut and add wire there, its so hard! i would gladly pay 30$ for an extention.
anyway i feel much better about my o2 readings credibility im gonna scope the sensors and see if the sensors them selves are working as needed.
the car still runs bad, but i can hear a miss for sure, saw a crack plug wire boot while under car...
next on list, replace plugs, wires, wtr pump, and perform leakdown check...

anyway ill post up my results of the sesors reading to the end of whether my wire repair affects the readings.
