O2 codes after LT header install on 93

This isnt actually for my car. He just installed hooker longtube headers on his 93 camaro with 58mm tb, slp intake, 1.6 rr's. After The header install it started to run real rich (enough to smell it from afar) car doesnt have any exhaust leaks and nothing else was changed. What i wanted to know is if anyone else has had this problem and have they switched to heated o2 sensors? I think this would be a good idea anyway but the o2 sensors are black and seem to be "fouled out" so to speak. Let me know if anyone can give me some input, thank you.

If you had done a search for that very issue. You would have seen dozens of screwed up sensors after header installs. The easy answer is do what I did, and run the engine for 10 or 15 minutes with the O2s out. Since it's too late for that, the sensors have to be changed. However, I think if he hasn't already done so, his programming should change as well.

Shoebox has a detailed description of how to change to heated O2s. That would be preferrable over what he has now.

OK thanks for the input. I did do a search but i couldnt find what i was looking for. maybe I should have refined my search words. But everything you said is what i told him to do just making sure i was right and there isnt anything extra like that running with o2 out of the car for 10-15 min wish i knew that beforehand. thanks

Another common issue on 93's with long tubes is the need to swap to heated O2 sensors because the distance back in the airstream that the O2's get moved won't let them heat up enough to put the car into closed loop.

Third post down in that thread is my write up.
