I dont think I needed an extension, but if I did use one it would have been a 3" 3/8 drive.

Do you need to drop the y-pipe when changing the pass side O2?

You dont have to, but it would be a hell of alot easier if you already had it off.

So you are saying that you don't have to drop the y-pipe.
I diagnosed a Formula and it was a bad O2 and I didn't have time to change it myself so I had a friend do it and he said you had to drop it. It ended up costing $200 in labor to change the O2, plus my $50 for diagnosing the car and $100 for O2's since I decided that it would be best to change both of them.

No. I didnt drop my y pipe and it only took me about 40 minutes to change both of mine. You just have to reach down by the firewall on the passenger side to get it out, but I did it with my "weekend mechanics tools".
