Cool NYS Inspection w/ PCM4less

The new NY State ispection for 96 and up cars is not that bad. I have a cam, headwork, gutted cat, loud exhaust, and so on down the list(97 camaro Z28). All they do now is plug you in and scan the PCM for codes with the best part being no emissions testing...no codes = pass!

Same here in IL, basically you can run long tubes, no cats., a big cam, aggressive heads, so forth and so on... as long as you don't post a code, you are good to go.

Re: NYS Inspection w/ PCM4less

do they look at the readiness of the systems like they do here in MA? if so did then the pcm4less tune should work for me also

Re: NYS Inspection w/ PCM4less

Not entirely true. You need to have no test failures BUT you also need test completion.

This can be a problem for guys disabling the misfire test for large cams, disabling cat monitoring O2 sensors, etc., etc. While they aren't throwing codes, the tests also show up as not completing. Some of these tests must complete with a pass or you don't

Luckily I don't have to worry about this emissions testing junk... though I'm sure my car would pass or I would make sure it did
