What is the fuel pressure supposed to be??

Ok i hooked up a fuel pressure guage and the car when on run it goes to 40psi then it drops to 30 and stays there while the car is running, when reved it goes to about 39 does that sound about right?? The car is running because im waiting for it to do its stall out, so i can see if the pressure is dropping.

30 PSI at idle is a bit low. Whats the pressure like with the key on and engine off? does it hold without bleed down? and when is the last time the filter was changed?

just changed the filter today, had to go home on a tow truck friday, the car will run for about 20 min when its cold then it warms up and dies, then you let it cool and it fires again, i thought the fuel pump was going, but i just checked till it stalled and it held pressure at 31, now we think it might be a cooling issue because the coolant is not circulating with the cap open it just bubbles over. With the key on run its about 40 psi then it drops to 30 then goes back up. Could it be the regulator?

what else could be causing my problem, just took out the thermostat and they hacked the spring off, so its just the top of the thermostat, bunch of idiots...

replace the threm and I think I would try eplacing the fpr first. I would go with an adjustable one or you can go with a stock fuel pressure regulator.
