Noticable gain?

I know i'm going to sound like a newb even though I kind of am still new to the camaro. My friend said he would sell me his slp CAI for $50 but i'll need to get filters for it. I'm also getting a cat-back exhaust but I am still undecided on which one to go with. My question is will these 2 mods give me a noticable gain? I'm not going to do anything crazy yet. I'm just working on basic bolt ons now.

Re: Noticable gain?

You should notice some gain. I didn't notice anything drastic with just a CAI and a catback, but there was an improvement. Once I added on the long tubes and a tune, it was a definite seat of the pants difference.

Thanks for your input. I don't expect to see any crazy gain on it. I was just wondering if I would feel a difference.

Those two mods together should get you about 15 rwhp. You should feel it if you've gotten used to how the cars feels now.

You'll feel it if you pay attention to how it feels to drive it.

With those mods, you might not notice it at WOT, but just driving around, it will have alot better throttle response. It will give you aruond 15 more RWHP.

Re: Noticable gain?

Thanks for the info. I also had 2 other dumb questions. I recently failed emissions in ny and was told the cat was shot. I figured I would bang out the one that's in there for a little extra performance and just get a new one to use in the inspection. I was looking at these things online and for oem they want around $300 for one which I think is pretty crazy. It is a single cat. The picture they showed looked like the cat was intergrated into the y-pipe. Is that how it really is on the single cat system? Also anyone know the best place to find a replacement cat for a good price? I'm looking for one that will bolt right in and not require any cutting or welding.

Re: Noticable gain?

If you want a replacement cat that will bolt right up, then you will have to buy that whole ridiculous cat/ypipe assembly from GM for such a high price. Otherwise, you can just buy a nice aftermarket cat from Carsound for 60 bucks and pay a shop another 50-75 to weld it in.
