Notch Valve Covers

What side of the valve covers have to be notched to make clearance for 1.6rr? The side closer to the intake manifold or headers?

do you have to cut it down the side of the center bolt hole or just the cross webbing?

Sometimes you can solve the interference simply by flattening out the ridges and right angle stiffeners on the web with a pair of pliers, and not cutting anything out at all. What 1.6 rockers are you using?
