A stock car, cruising along the highway, 180° thermostat, will be ~190°-195°. When you sit in traffic, the engine heats up because there is no air flow across the radiator. The stock fans will come on at 226°.

Well, here recently, after awhile, it'll get close to 260. I have no idea what the problem is. How could I check to see if it's the waterpump?

Check all the hoses for leaks, look under the waterpump at the weephole. Pressure check the cap. Drain and re fill with new water and anti freeze, add a bottle of waterwetter, that helps keep the temps down. Also dont forget to drain and clean the overflow bottle(lot of brown crap in there)

Check the front of your condensor for a Wal-Mart bag or the daily newspaper. Sometimes there can even be debris wedged in between the a/c condenser and the radiator.
