is it normal to run this cool after !AIR and !EGR?

I installed headers and removed my AIR and EGR a month or so ago. Ever since then, my temperature gauge hasn't moved at all. Sitting in bumper to bumper traffic, normal highway driving, 8 or so 1/4 mile runs...nothing has made this gauge go anywhere.

I know it's normal to run cooler after those mods, but should it be that cool? I'm just worried that I accidentally disconnected a temp sensor or somethin stupid...anyone else's car run that cool after !EGR and !AIR?

Sounds like you disconnected the sensor some how. My car runs the same temp as it did before I did !AIR and !EGR. Around 180 on the highway and 210 sitting in traffic. You might want to check your connections out.

You knocked the harness connector off the temp sensor in the head, between plugs #1 and #3. Or you damaged it. You're lucky, since that sensor only feeds the gauge. The PCM is still getting its correct info from the one in the water pump housing.

Since AIR only runs at startup, and the intent of EGR is to reduce combustion chamber temps under certain conditions, there is no locigcal reason that removing either would reduce coolant temperature.

ok....I thought it seemed a lil weird to be running that cool . I didn't intentionally unplug it so apparently I either broke it or knocked the plug out somehow...gonna hafta take a look when I get home. thanks.

If the temp sensor in the waterpump isn't functioning right will it always trigger a code? How hard is it to replace..

Angry

grr...

turns out I broke off the connector on the sensor, so I got a new one from autozone. Pulled the old sensor, got a nice lil green puddle on my driveway, put the new one in. Went to plug it in, and the plug doesn't fit

I switched the sensors again, complete with another green driveway puddle, so I could hold the new one and get a better look at it, and the plugs seem to be pretty much shaped the same, but I just can't get em to plug together

It seems to be the right part (Wells SU109...just like the search on the autozone site says), but it won't plug in to the connector. Maybe I somehow damaged the connector on my car and it's something I can't see? Like a piece of one of the old contacts jammed inside it and not letting the new contacts in? Or is the new part wrong? (It also used a different sized wrench, I believe 19MM vs the 21MM for the old one, but that happens sometimes...). I assume a local parts store wouldn't have that connector and I'd be stuck either searching the junkyards or spending $739.95 or so at the dealership for one

Well first make sure you got the right sensor.
If so I had a heck of a time getting the plug to go back in my sensor after the LT install, did not change the sensor still the same one that was hooked up originally but getting the plug back in was kinda tuff, finally lined it up right and it went on but it was kinda weird.

Took me a moment to get my temp sensor connection situated too. If you doubt the fitment test the connector while you have the sensor in your hand where you can see it better.
