If you are going by your tach (which reads 200-300 high) you are probably spinning around 700-800.

My idle is set for around 900.

Idle RPM shouldn't be a concern unless it is running faster than needed to keep the car from stalling out.JMHO

Thanks,

To be honest my stock tach and aftermarket tach are pretty much the same at idle. It's not really a problem I was just wondering what the norm was for our cars.

after installing longtubes, pcm, new wires etc etc , now my car idles at 550-600 rpm (after its warmed up).............its probably just barely above stalling............i do have a slight exhaust leak at the collectors (i think the header gaskets are ok).

is this low idle bad?

it never stalls tho............yesterday i idled for 45-60mins at the airport with my AC on max (1/4 tank of gas, thanks airport security).

The value programmed into the stock PCM for the M6 is 800rpm. It should stabilize there fully warmed up (+/-25rpm).

what are the most common causes for a low idle.......since mine is about 550.............i have a slight exhaust leak at my collector gasket.........but i think the header gaskets are very tight.

would a leak in my intake manifold create a low idle?

No... vacuum leak will cause high idle. Most common cause of low idle would be a dirty IAC valve, or the idle air passages in the base of the throttle body are crudded up.
