Normal to have a little steam from oil filler when engine is hot?

Hey guys. My low oil light came on today which I was suprised about becuase to my knowledge I have no oil leaks and I have never noticed blue smoke from my exhuast. My motor only has about 6k miles on it so is it normal to be a little low still since the motor is still pretty new, I am also really close to needing an oil change. Its not real low it was just below the first mark on the oil dipstick, so maybe like half a court low. Also, when I took out the dipstick and took off the oil filler cap I noticed a little bit of steam/smoke coming out of them, not a whole lot just a little bit. I figured this might be normal since the motor was hot. What do u guys think about all this?? Thanks, Dustin.
