Noob question on leaking oil pan

Hey all, I took off the pan and put it back on with an new gasket. But even with significant silicone when reinstalling, I am getting a slight leak at the pan/timing chain cover location.

What is the best way to fix? Gobs of silicone on the outside or something more drastic?

Thanks,
Ben

I've had the best results with installing a Felpro oil pan gasket dry, no silicone.

The gobs of silicone is causing your leak. If the gasket is new, you should be able to drop the front of the pan and peal the gasket maker off of it without doing any damage.

That's a dirty job man, good luck with your fix. If it's still leaking after you fix it, make sure it's leaking from the pan and not somewhere else.
