i changed my tranny fluid from god knows what (bought it used) to mobil 1 syn. afterwords my tranny started to sound realy noising during exceleration and stuff. is that normal because of the switch or do i need to add more fluid??
you think i should stop driving it in the meantime or have i aleady damaged something?

Is it an auto or an M6? I switched to synthetic in my old M6 & it was louder then before so I switched back to regular & it was quiter. If it's an auto, you may have issues.

Do not change your fluid....you will end up in less than a year at most rebuilding if you do so....I am finding out the hard way....Just a lil heads up....Ask around and they will tell you if you don't believe me....I am gonna have to get mine rebuilt now that I changed the fluids , they say with removing all the particles in the tranny actually hurts when you go to fresh fluids, allows it to slip too much and then causes excessive wear....Its crazy but trust me......

94ta what you didnt noticed is that I was replying to a guy who states he did put ATF on his Manual transmission...

what I forgot to say in my post was... I wonder if I do the switch too.. meaning using gear oil in my Auto tranny.

Now unless the Manual Tranny uses ATF ... something is wrong with that guy.... (or whatever autoparts Jockey who sold him the fluid)

Both the five and six-speed manual transmissions use dexron II ATF tranny fluid instead of gear lubrication.

They didn't have Dexron III when these tranny's were built therefore the sticker says Dexron II, but Dexron III is perfectly fine in our Trannys.....

Marvin, you need to do some research before making annoying comments. t56 trannies use atf, not gear fluid. I think we noticed what you wrote, but its irrelavent because of misinformation.

is it noise coming up from the shifter or what? my pro 5.0 makes a sucking sound that drives me crazy but i dont think it has anything to do with changing fluids... i just changed from that Honda ATF to the Mobil 1 and notice no difference.
