i have a ticking coming from my engine compartment......seems a little louder on driver side than passenger side. is this normal? i hear that all LT1's injectors are noisy. i cant hear it from inside the car unless im real close up against a building or something like a drive thru or if i have the hood opened.

 

My car does that, too. I was afraid it was lifter knock or something crazy like that. Turns out it's just my noisy injectors. Maybe someone else can validate this, too.

 

I have this same problem. I'm wondering if I have an exhaust leak around the headers?

 

header leak as previously mentioned or loose rocker maybe??

 

definitely not an exhaust leak.....its a tapping noise.....i think its the injectors. some people say its normal for the injectors to make that noise?

 

Well let me just say...now that I have experience with a loose pushrod(sounds the same as broken lifter i guess)...it is a very loud ticking noise. You can hear it easily from inside the car over the engine and exhaust. It will ofcourse speed up when you give it more gas, cause the engine speeds up. I hope you dont have the same problem as me. Take off the valve cover and check to make sure everythings tight just in case. Its only 4 screws.

If you can still drive it and its fine, then it hasnt come off completly, but can still be loose. You will tell if it comes off, car runs like complete shi!t....very very shaky and loss of power, feels like its gonna cut off.

but from what I hear it can also be an injector or exhaust leak. Good luck, hope its not what happened to me.

thanks. i know what a lifter sounds like......sometimes in the winter after the car has been sitting for 2 days, it is loud like that and goes away after a minute. this is not the same ticking i dont think

 

the car runs fine though....and is smooth in the upper rpms
