Exclamation No Start on Nu-tek 383 after install and PCM tuning

Ok, I had a 383 LT1 done by nu-tek Motorsports. http://www.nu-tekmotorsports.com

They came highly recommended and the work looks supurb.

Here is whats done to the motor.

383 LT1 (.030 over SRP pistons, 6" eagle H-beam rods, 3.75" Callies Dragon slayer crank) Fully balanced
30lbs Ford SVO injectors
LT4 hotcam 108 centerline
11.25 to 1 compresion ratio (confirmed)
Fully ported LT1 heads ( have flow bench sheet if needed)
1-5/8 primary headers
Stock Throttle Body
Stock MAF
K&N CAI
1.6 Roller Rockers
CSI Electric Waterpump
Air Conditioning delete
Blaster 2 coil
FULL emissions (no delete)
High volume oil pump

Thats the majority of the stuff.

I have a unvented opti (its a 1994 Camaro z28), which was put on correctly, and it worked fine before it got taken off. I also had http://www.pcmforless.com do the pcm program for the car which I uploaded. And it uploaded fine.

When I tried to fire the car. The fuel pump primes, everything is normal. Then I crank it, the motor is turning and I get a "put, put" every so often. But not enough to kick the motor over and get her going. We had smoke come out of the throttle body/intake. So we know its TO FAR advanced. When the intake valve is open but i combust.

I tried ether and some gas, spritzing it down the Trottle Body. I got some more put, puts. But nothing to kick it over.

I also checked the spark, by using a screw driver and grounded it. I got a nice spark.

Tommorrow I'll double check the wire again, and make sure everything is on (im fairly certain its 99% all there) But just to be sure.

But the point is i need help and I am wondering as if anyone ran into this too??

Also tommroow ill check the fuel pressure, but who knows.

Lastly i didnt have the oil sender sensor hooked up. WILL THIS CAUSE A NO START. I heard it does and doesnt. Currently the car is 45 min drive from my current posistion so i cant get to it today.

But any thoughts on this. I am desperate.

General troubleshooting needs to be posted in a General Technical Forum, moving to the correct Forum. Thanks.

>I would double check all the wire connections again maybe use another set of eyes (friend, spouse, etc.) when I did a cam replacement I forgot to reconnect the wire between the throttle body and thermostat housing (I think ) and all the car would do is crank but not fire up .

If its sneezing back in the intake you prolly have your plug wires in the wrong order. I'de double check them. I had no doubt in my mind i had mine put on currectly but had 2 crossed. Ya need 3 things to make it go, air fuel or spark...find out which one its not getting enough of.

I am going with plug wires, or opti being on wrong. I had a friends car that I worked on, and we put the opti on wrong and that is exactally what she did.

I agree.

Make sure the right plug wire is going to the right terminal on the opti.

You have a new fuel filter right?

loosen up your rockers, that might do it. First time I did cam change and ported heads, I had too tight rockers (the same ones you got), and I did follow the manual procedure.... My car did the same thing as yours: it did turn over and then backfired. No start. After I loosened the rockers, it started right away.

Also check to make sure your injector connectors are not crossed.

I remember reading someones post that stated the computer looks for some cranking oil pressure from the sending unit and if it doesn't see it it will hut off fuel and not alow the car to start.

I think it meant there is a backup to the fuel pump relay. if the relay goes bad, then it will still start by the circuit being completed by the oil pressure switch. At least this is how it works in some GM cars.
