No response from Gas peddle

When I press the gas I get no revs. There is also push back on the peddle, kinda like having no power steering. Is it the small motor that is connected to the throttle cable? If so what is it called? It idles perfectly fine and when I move the throttle arm it revs fine. HELP!

Can you give us more information on your car?

Year? Engine? Do you have traction control?

sorry, 97 z28 LT1 it does have traction control. I tried it on and off and same response. It started last week, wife came home and it ran fine, when I went to take it for a spin I could only get it to rev to about 2500 rpms. now it won't even rev at all, just idles

Take off the cover of the traction control servo that hangs over the LH valve cover and watch the action as someone operates the pedal.

Is the cable connected to the accellerator pedal?

Looking in my factory service manual......the assembly appears to involve three cables(accelerator, cruise control, and cable to throttle body) and a DC motor. As best I can tell, all of these wrap around a drum that allows the DC motor to take control when the traction control needs to intervene. The assembly seems to be mostly mechanical. There is adjustments for each cable. Where the cables attach to the traction control bracket, there are provisions for adjusting the cable length. Check to see if the cable from the accelerator has broken the clips for the adjuster....or see if you can feel tension from the pedal cable as it's pressed down.

It is mostly a mechanical assembly....if it's not working, there must be a problem with one of the cables(unless the DC motor is locked up or a problem with the cruise control module....in that case I think the accelerator pedal would be locked).

I'm just speculating on all this, because my 96 Z28 does not have Traction Control.

According to the factory manual, the left most cable is to the Cruise control, the middle cable is to the accelerator, and the one on the right(blue dot) is the cable to the throttle body. If you manually open the throttle body with your hand, does that cable move at the blue dot?

I've got to run out for an hour or two, but later, I will try to post up all the pages in my factory manual on the traction control module....including the cable adjustment procedure.

Strange, for some reason, your picture just disappeared....however I did see it before it was zapped.

Here's the pic again. When I manuall move the rocker on the throttle body it revs up fine, but I didn't see the cable move at all. And again since the image disappeared above...the two red cables move the blue does not when the accelerator is pressed

Something in that assembly must be preventing the throttle cable from rotating. Can you rotate the throttle cable in the direction of rotation when the pedal is pushed down? In another words, can you grab the blue dotted cam(the factory manual calls each drum the cable is wrapped around a "cam") and rotate it counterclockwise freely when standing on the right side? If you can do that....do the throttle blades move? If so, your cables would seem to be fine and it must be something going on with the traction control cam assembly. Also, is the Service Engine Soon Light on?

I wonder what that blue tab to the right of the cams is?

Here are the pages from the factory manual on it. 000 is the first page. It starts out referencing the control module. The cable adjustment starts on page "001".

Page "004" is what I've been looking at to try and get a handle on how the cams work.

i dont know how much the traction controll motor costs but when i did my engine swap i pulled that motor out and replaced it with a factory cable from a non traction controll car. i lost my traction controll and cruise controll, but i did not really want them anyway. plus i got rid of all that ugly junk. i think the throttle cable i used was around 20 bucks.

The cable you marked in blue goes from the TC servo to the throttle body. Turn the servo by hand so you can remove it, then pull on it and see if it opens the TB blades. It might be stretched out or broken.
