No oil pressure if I do an abrupt stop
No oil pressure if I do an abrupt stop
Just got my engine together. Stock bottom end with just over 30,000 miles so I didn't change the bearings. They looked fine to me. Oil pressure stays good even at idle unless I stop quickly. After an abrupt stop, it drop to 0. What could this be? I removed the air and egr so I put the oil sending unit straight up and down without using the elbow. This shouldn't affect the reading should it? Any help would be appreciated. Please don't say just don't come to an abrupt stop. Thanks.

It's a brand new oil pump and we did tack it on. No I didn't get a high volume pump because I didn't want to empty the pan. I didn't actually do the tacking myself, but I asked the guy tonight if there was any way it could have come loose and he said no way.
Re: No oil pressure if I do an abrupt stop
I had the same issue with my 355 build. Just cause it taced on doesnt mean it cant come off. Trust me mine came off after it was taced on. Iv had mine come off 2 times. The second time, engine builder built a sweet bracket and now its not possible for it to come off. Im betting its the pick up off.
Re: No oil pressure if I do an abrupt stop
Ditto, pickup if off or broken. One I put together broke off even though it was welded on.
To check....
Drain oil from pan and tap on the pan with a hammer or something hard. You will hear it bounce around in there.
