No oil pressure
No oil pressure
I searched this topic and my findings led me to believe that my oil pressure sending unit was bad. After replacing it, I still have no oil pressure at idle. The car is still in air so I havent driven it to check the pressure while cruising although it scares to think about driving it with no pressure. The story behind this is that at the big end of the 1/4 mile, I lost oil pressure. After letting the car cool down to look at it, I started it and the pressure went to 20 at idle and 40 or so while cruising. Seeing this, I think I just pumped the pan dry so I head home. It runs about 25-30psi the whole way which I wasnt happy about but the car was running normal with no odd noises from the motor so I make it home all in one piece which brings me back to today. What are my options? Could it just be the pump? Thanks guys.
Re: No oil pressure
I would not drive it that way.........It MAY be the gauge, do you have a way to check oil pressure? (another gauge or something) I would think if you were truly running 0 oil pressure you would hear some knocking. Lil' off the subject but, how did you run a 12.44 @110mph in the 1/4 with 290 hp?? Nitrous? That seems mighty fast stock.

Im in the process of hunting down a manual gauge just to make sure that the gauge didnt go loopy on me. If the gauge checks out ok, Im leaning towards it being the oil pump drive gear thanks to lots of ideas from the people on various boards.
As for the times in my sig, the ET and MPH are from 2 different runs, they are just my best of both. My best run to date is 12.44 @ 108.8. It was with the stock rear(3.23), stock suspension except LCA's a relo brackets, stock heads cc305 cam and valvetrain to match, TCI 3500 stall converter, bolt-ons minus tb, and pulleys. It was on ET Streets with the only weight reduction being !backseat, !swaybar, and skinnies. Being that it was in Feb. helped too. All motor. Thanks.
