No need for Cats in Ca possibly

Hey guys, this is my first post, but I heard some interesting news you guys might be interested in. My Camaro has been a LT camaro in CA for a while. I was going to make it into a race car, but the money for a commuter fell through, so I'm turning it street legal again and I came upon an awesome loophole. Since I have no catalytic converters, I bought some from ws6store.com, but I found out no one can ship to CA for aftermarket cats! I was worried, because this would mean that I have to buy from the factory. I called GM and asked for a driver and passenger catalytic converter and they stated they don't make the driver side for 97s anymore. I had no alternative now. I called the referee and after a very long phone call and other stuff, that I can get an exemption because there is no way to buy them new. They will be looking at my car in the next couple weeks and deciding on the exemption sticker. If it works, then a lot of us can be street legal with straight pipes!

That would be so cool! I want to live in CA now so I can do that. Just out of curiosity, since I am spending the summer there, but can residents of another state apply for the exemption if you are visiting for a few months, or would they not go for that?

I'm not sure. I think that the exemption would only be for California registered cars, but it's worth a shot. Call the referee for California, and he will let you know after you have a meeting with him. It is quite a process.
