Exclamation Is no front license plate in TX risky?

I am curious if anyone in TX has gotten a ticket for not having a front license plate. Z28's look so much better without them and I just had mine painted.

Maybe I'll keep it in the trunk and use the excuse that I took it off to get my car washed and I was going to put it back on when I got home.

Anyone else have a good story in case I get pulled over?

Does anyone have a picture of their license plate mounted on the air dam for an LT1? That could be an option if it looks good.

If it is the law, then you'd be wise to obey it.

Why draw attention when head on with the jimmy legs?

Its a valid excuse to stop you.

Its how the law can spot a wanted suspect or a stolen vehicle coming in the opposite direction.

These cars are rather conspicuous to begin with and some cops take special notice. JMHO.

Believe me when I say I'm no moralist, but I don't believe that we (this site) should endorse trying to get away from the laws, whether they be emissions requirements or plate location.

Do what you want to do, of course, but don't cry if it comes back to bite you in the A$$. JMHO.

A suggestion.... questions like this do NOT belong on "LT1 Tech". Why not post it on the "Texas....." forum, where just about everyone will be able to answer your question.

Excellent suggestion. EVeryone knows that Texans know everything, except maybe who the "real" president is.

Got stopped a few times when i lived in Texas but i never got a ticket. Im not a law breaker btw, but asking me to drill holes in my car is another story. I kept mine in the car with me so as that when i got stopped, i told them i was going to do the install soon. How many C5's do you see in Texas with front plates, not many i would bet! The car looks so much better with out it! I say just move to florida, no emissions and no front plates!

I dunno about TX, but I have been driving in Illinois without a license plate for almos a year, and been pulle over 8 times, NONE of which any officer mentioned the plate to me! I usually keep the front plate tucked inbetween the passenger seatblet and center console, and if i do get pulled over, i throw it on the dash so it looks like i have it displayed. Wors every time!

Thanks for all the replies. I really don't want to drill any holes in my new paint job but we'll see what happens. I was really hoping to see more pictures of what other people have done.

If we can't talk about whether or not to put a front license plate on my car, I better not discuss any driving over 65 either.

Next time I will take a shot at posting to the Texas forum. - Thanks
