no coolant crossover on heads bad?
no coolant crossover on heads bad?
I ask this because im in the middle of a h/c swap and my old heads do not have the coolant crossover just two plugs on the heads, they have been like that since i bought the car in march, so I do not have a pipe and was wondering if it was ok to take the plugs and put them in the new heads. If not where do I get a pipe and how much?
Re: no coolant crossover on heads bad?
you say the heads that were on the car were plugged...I can't imagine why someone would do that. Did the car remain at normal temperature? You can get the crossover tube at any GM dealer usually between $55-$60...

yeah, but you are getting hot spots at the rear of the heads(which is bad for valves and gaskets), the sender for the gauge is at the front of the head, the tube allows coolant to flow through the dead spot at the rear of the heads
Re: no coolant crossover on heads bad?
can i put this tube on with the heads in the car, or can i buy the fittings at a hardware store? everything is almost put back together and im not gonna take the heads off
