Nitto 555R Drag Radials Vs Road race tires ???

What's the difference between the Nitto 555R Drag Radials & the 555R II Extreme??

Discount tire's description only says that the 555RII is a road racing version of the drag radial, with stiffer side walls.

Will the Drag radial hook up noticably better than the road race tire?

I'm guessing they'll wear about the same since they're both rated as 100 tread ware.

Only difference I can see is that the drag radial is rated to 149 mph, and the Road race ones are rated as W or Y rated.

Thanks a lot!!

Yes, you should get much better launches with the drag radials. They have more flex in the sidwalls that help alot with initial traction when you mash the gas. You'd probably spin alot more with the road race version.

exactly what it says they have two different purposes. the road race ones are great for that and the drag radials are better for the track.

Actually a guy I road race with says he can tell know differences between two and the tread design is the same.

I know the sidewalls are supposed to be stiffer, but he said they don't feel any stiffer.
