NHRA kill switch ?

hello. did a search, didn't find out what i need to know.

i have my kill switch mostly installed = batt cable. but i need to do the alt part. can i use the field wire to kill the alt ? my switch has 3 switchs in it, 1 for the batt cable, and 2 for lower power kills. i'm figuring that i could run the field wire to one of the lower switchs and that would turn the alt off. anyone done this ?

any other issues i need to know about ?

thanx

I did'nt use a 3 pole on my but I ran a wire from the alt. straight to the battery. and then I put the switch in between the + cable going to the starter.

yeah. that seems to be the way everyone does it. but i don't want to do it that way, i don't want the extra heavy wire when a small wire will do.
i don't see why it wouldn't work, but i figured i would ask.
am i the only one who has thought of this
it looks like i will just have to test my method before wiring it up.
