Next Upgrade in Line
Ok, I've got some decent money sittin in the bank and I'm lookin at another mod or 2 on the Z. I've got a 97, M6 with CAI and LTs. I'm thinkin about a cam, but I'm not sure which would be best.
What I need from my car:
-Daily Driver
-Reliability
-Semi-decent gas mileage
What I need to know:
-When adding a cam, what has to be done first?
-What is the best cam that fits my needs?
-How much am I lookin at spending preparing for and adding a cam?
If I need to add any other specific information, please let me know. Thanks for the help

Re: Next Upgrade in Line
Cam swaps end up costing more money than predicted. You'll need lifters, gaskets (sounds cheap but really isn't), valve springs and retainers, several special tools if you're doing it yourself (or $800 labor for a shop to do it), fluids, 1.6 Rockers, pushrods and a computer tune.

You'll also most likely need a timing chain set. I'd recommend the Hotcam kit. Suspension is also more money than people think because it comprises of springs, shocks, adjustable panhard bar and lower control arms + brackets. Not to mention wheels and tires to handle it.
Re: Next Upgrade in Line
Ive got about 1500 right now...tryin to keep it as inexpensive as possible...I'd prolly pay a friend/local expert to work on it....so really I need #s on parts costs
