Next Upgrade???
Precision Industries "Vigilante" is known as one of the best(it's what I have). Also Yank is considered very good too. Both are quite pricey though new. PI does allow one free change of stall rpm, to anything you desire if you purchase one new. There are some other companies out there people have had success with. Also I'm sure some custom shops build their own. But I'm skeptical of that. Some converters don't stall to the advertised rpm, which is a rip. The first two I mentioned are right on the money. It's pretty easy to install if your mechanically inclined. The tranny just has 4 bolts. Remove the linkagein the drivers side, and the 2 fluid lines on the passenger side. Then the 4 bolts and drop the tranny. I didn't even have to take out my driveshaft. Then I think there are 3 bolts holding the converter to the flywheel. Remove those and the old one's out and do the reverse for the new one in. Make sure you turn the stall so it drops all the way on though. A lot of people seem to have that problem and the tranny won't bolt back up cause it's held too far away from the motor. Just creates a lot more work. A shop would probably do it for $100-150 bucks. I did mine myself. MAKE SURE you get a tranny cooler though. A B&M 28,000 GVW is like $60 bucks. An hour install is damn good insurance for long lasting tranny life. Good luck, you'll be very pleased as long as you go with good quality. Also keep in mind a converter makes the tranny shifts "sloppy" or "soft". This isn't an issue unless it bothers you. It bothered me cause I like hard snappy shifts. So I got a Trans-Go shift kit installed. $100 bucks for the shift kit new and another $100 when I had it installed. Comes with an installation video and instructions but I stray away from transmission internals so I had a shop do it. Now I swing sideways during the 1-2 shift and just about catch rubber every time going into 3rd. I don't even really have to be getting on it hard either.
