New z28 owner! Pic/questions inside:)
Hello all!. I recently purchased a 1997 z28 camaro 30th anniversary edition as of monday and well, to be quite honest, couldnt be happier with the car.
Car only has 100xxxkms on er and runs perfectly. Stupid coolant light likes to like up whenever it wants to, but i havent gotten around to cleaning it up. Rad is filled to the top when cold. Anyways onto the question!
The car will rarely start the first attempt. Ill let it crank over twice and it might sputter, then nothing. But another attempt with two cranks, fires right up and runs perfect. This almost ALWAYS happens. When it does start on the 2nd crank, it has the distinct smell of gas. And if the engine is revved, you can hear it pop and crack in the exhaust. Happens on cold or hot engine. Almost seems to me that its flooding partially.
ANy opinions on this are welcome, thanks in advance

LT1 350v8 6speed
Mods
- k/n air filter/intake
- centerforce stage 2 clutch( apparently)
- underdrive pullies
- Msd pro billet distributor*(Adjustable ignition timing
- Ported/polished maf
- Magnaflow catback
- lowered/stiffer suspension( not sure on brand)
- 17in roh wheels wrapped in 275/40/r17's all around
- short throw shifter
Again, any opinions are welcome, thanks once again.

id say its just that the plugs are old and arent sparking like they used to.
Change plugs, and plug wires.
Expect 4+ hours on plugs
Best way i found with factory manifolds, was to do driver side from the bottom.
Then the passenger side, u can do the front two from the top, and the back two from the bottom.
Plug wires, PITA.
Also do a fuel filter and oil change while your at it.

Yep, run a tune up, also I would suggest the opti, just cause its nearing that 110k that they usually take a crap at from majority...its a bit expensive but will last you a long time
And as Reamo04 pointed out, expect a full day of work at doing the plugs and wires, the driver side is a breeze, but the passenger side will make you want to drive it off a clif. So get a 6 pack or two, and have at it

The timing is adjustable (+- 5*): http://www.msdignition.com/2006/06-4.htm
i adjust timing via LT1_EDIT, but that is still sweet
i got 175,000 miles and the original opti... no problems yet... but i know what i want next
