new true dual pics under axle

setup:

jethot longtubes
2.5" true duals w/ H-pipe
16" long 4" wide 2.5" straight through bullet performance muffler
ractive oval tips

i had dual flanges put in right before the axle, so both rear pieces with mufflers and tips can be easily removed at the track, allowing me to run with no mufflers, and no added weight, open pipes.

the sound?.....its very tame and quiet compared to any other true dual setup ive heard.......it sounds about as loud as a stock manifold car with a good catback, which is what i was looking for......makes for very nice daily driving, but still have true duals.

i know an X-pipe would probably make more power, but i really like the sound of the H-pipe better......its hard to explain, but the tone is different. since its my daily driver, i dont mind giving up 10hp or whatever to get the sound that i really like to hear all
day.

as you can see, i hardly lose any clearance at all, i have only barely rubbed it on the highest of speedbumps.....my car is still stock height though, once its lowered, i will have to be more careful.

nope.....doesnt rub anythign on the car

the detachable rear section helps when you need to put the car on a lift........i just take the rear off so the axle doesnt rest on it.

MUCH easier going under......its a PITA to bend dual pipes over the axle nicely, and i didnt want to spend that much money. going under does not lose any ground clearance, and does not rub on anything.....so i ffigured why bother going over?

yeah stacey kicks ***

the rims are on......but now i need some longer studs and spacers for the rear......the vette offset makes them tuck a little too much.

next project is installing this damn heads/cam package sitting in my living room.

Looks great. I was thinking about doing that with my true duals. Now that you've done it it looks even better than I imagined. Do you have any sound clips? Please say yes, please say yes??

ill try and get a clip sooner or later

as for the cost........since my buddy owns an exhaust shop, the labor was really way below what most people would pay.

parts needed:

dual oval tips $100 (you could find cheaper im sure)
dual bullet mufflers $120 (dynomax's are cheaper, but damn loud)
piping, gaskets, flanges, $150

plus labor charges ???......took about 3 hours.

From the last true dual setup although it was over the axle had the same type mufflers as you and it had a Shelby Cobra type deep sound to it. With a destinct rumble to it. IS that how yours sounds?
