New TQ converter

When your puting the tq converter back on the imput shaft, how can you tell if its fully on, i seen zmydust.com and all else but i thought it was on but when i bolted it back up to the block the converter woulndt spin anymore, i thought it was on because i couldnt reach around the side but the bottom it looks like it has about 1/2 gap when your looking where the inspection plate is at?

Re: New TQ converter

If it's bolted to the flywheel again then it will not spin freely anymore.

Re: New TQ converter

The converter should audibly engage three clicks. When it's fully seated if you put a yardstick across the front of the bellhousing the converter should be recessed about 1/4". When the tranny is bolted up the converter should be about 1/8" away from the flexplate.

Re: New TQ converter

well we bolted it all up, and when i was trying to spin the tq converter it finally went all the way in, with no gaps!!! but i dont know about this, my friend and neighbor says its supposed to, when you bolt it to the fly wheel the fly pulls the tq converter forwards from its last little grove or something, but im going to load in the oil and see how the 3k stall go's.

Re: New TQ converter

Yup, sometimes that last click is hard as hell. Then when you bolt the tranny up you move the converter a tad bit forward to bolt it to the flywheel.

Re: New TQ converter

make sure to check your fluid level, if it is over full, then it will have the symptoms you describe.
