New timing chain on old sprockets

Is there any harm in putting a new timing chain on old sprockets? The sprockets are in perfect shape.

Thanks

I wouldn't do it. Seen a chain break once because because it was run on the old crank gear. Turns out the GM piece and the replacement had slightly different teeth pitch dimentions and destroyed the chain. It's not much more work to change the gears.

It is not recommended! I'm sure some have done it but I would not recommend it.

sprockets mesh in with the old chain, its safer to leave the old chain then put a new one on that will not contact the teeth properly & will most likely break.

Never have I put on a new chain without new sprockets. They all establish a wear pattern with each other.
