Block off my EGR?

My EGR is garbage and is making my car studder, idle very roughly and im going to block it off. I looked back there and I believe the best way to block off the EGR is to make a stainless steel plate and put it between the EGR pipe that goes into the back of the intake and the intake, there for blocking any exhaust gas recirculation from going into my intake and heating it up. This would cure my problem i believe. Anyone have any input before i do this?

Thanks

Cory

It's good for stopping intake gases from getting into the manifold, but it won't cure a leaking EGR valve.

but by blocking off the egr, wont that cure my studder/hesitation problem when i accelerate kinda fast but not WOT. Cuz I believe its the EGR cuz im even throwing a code everytime im on the highway doing about 70-80 MPH for a constant period of time, and the service engine light comes on...and i scanned the codes and the only code i got was #32 which is EGR. So im hoping by blocking off the EGR, my problem will be cured. I imagine i will still get the code tho, until i get it deleted from my pcm.

If the valve is faulty, it may still cause sealing problems. Instead of letting in exhaust, it might let in air. Also your code could be from an electrical problem with the solenoid and not the valve.
