New timing chain with cam upgrade?

Installing an LT4 hotcam kit with the 1.6 rrs and was needing to know if I have to get a new hd timing chain set. If so which one? If LT4 HD set then do I have to switch to a vented opti? I just got a new opti and this is on a 94 non-vented.

Will also be adding a 100 shot dry nitrous set up.

thanks.

p.s. I meant to say timing chain kit not just the chain.

If you are adding nitrous, then you for sure 100% need to replace it. Either way you should. LT4 HD will be perfect. But you can just get a LT4 replacement chain. Here ya go.... click me!

No offense but you don't wanna just change the chain if your switching to the HD chain. Get the whole kit. You can get them for about 190 bucks. Do it right the first time.

So then do I have to get a new non vented opti. I was reading Scoggin Dickey's description and they say... well I'll attach a link to the page below.

I thought I specified that, but not very clearly I guess. You should definitely replace the while unit, but budget doesn't always allow that.

So if I buy the LT4 HD timing chain KIT, do I have to change anything? Will the stock timing cover/opti/etc. work?

You have to change cam, opti, timing cover, and opti harness to 95 style..
Also add vacuum lines for opti..

Is there an HD chain kit out there that I can use the non-vented opti with? Please say yes. I just bought and put on a new opti...

You can't put a double roller on a non-vented setup.

Then do I absolutely need an HD kit. How about just replacing it with a new stock one like someone said above?

You dont want to do that. For the cost of a new opti and the ex duty chain. Just get a cloyes double roller and a csi pump and you want have to change the opti. and you will probably save $100 or so and free some hp up with the electic h2o pump.

You don't absolutely need to convert.

Will this really work? Do you know of anyone who has done this? What other parts are needed, and where to get them?

thanks.

Not a bad suggestion, but you're getting into a little more work with that... But not more than upgrading all the other components for the LT4 ED.
