New Summit racing Long mufflers

I just saw these today on summits website they look really cool. They have 2 models the smooth model which is like a 24' bullet resonater and the second model is a 30' 3.5 in Dia chambered pipe. They say its a throw back to the 60s muscle car sound. I was thinking of running the chambered model in the mid pipe on my camaro and finish the install like the loud mouth system with borla inter cooled tips.

Just wondering if anybody has tried this set up or knows what these mufflers sound like.

THanks guys,
-JOhn

I was also wondering the same thing. My friend pointed them out to me. He wants me to get one to see what it sounds like before he buys one. I told the fool he has a 70 Chevelle SS, it already sounds like a musclecar. My car I don't know though.

i bought 2 of them (3" chambered) and went to meineke to see if they could do the pipe bends and set it all up for me. they said that they couldnt bend pipes that big and also they wouldnt be mandral bends. I called around and noone around here could do the set up. so i sent them back and got the hooker catback.

Most shops don't actually have a mandrel bender. A lot of shops do carry 3" mandrel bends though (they order them). I'm just finishing up my REmodeling of my true dual system... you can usually find a shop that carries these pieces and buy them locally and weld or clamp them yourself (this is what I did). If you can't find them locally then you could certainly order the pieces and do it yourself or take the pieces to a shop and have them cut and weld it all up. I do know there are a couple places here in Bradenton for example (pretty small town) that carry the three in pieces and will do a custom setup for you - you just have to know where to look.

I will say it's expensive, just buying the bends costs $20 - $35 a piece and you need several... then add on the cost of someone else welding everything up and cutting it.. ouch that'd be expensive.

I will say doing all that cutting with a hack saw is not fun.. the welding isn't bad though.. just the cutting. I hate that damn hacksaw!

I guess this is just an FYI for anyone else reading this thread and thinking about trying something custom..
