New "starting the car" annoyance...

Maybe I'm being picky but for the past month it takes two key strokes to get the car started. The first stroke just seems to turn the engine over, on the second key stroke it fires up immediately. It happens all of the time now, engine cold or engine warm. Once on, it runs like a champ!

Should I be on the lookout for something?

How long you need to crank it the first time? If it is more than just a second or two, it could possibly be that your fuel pump is on its way south.

Verify that your fuel pressure isn't dropping off once the fuel pump primes (first 2 seconds after the key is in the run position (not the start position). If your fuel pressure drops off, then the check valve, integrated into the in tank fuel pump, has failed or dirt has it stuck in the open position. This is a common cause of hard starting.
