New Shocks?

My 96 Z28 is totallly stock with 46,000 miles. I am replacing my original GSCs with new GSCs. I am wondering if now is a prudent time to replace my shocks. If I can obtain a better ride and possibly better handling it would be worth changing to a non-stock shock. If I really won't notice an improvement in both ride and handling during my normal highway driving, I won't bother. I presume you need a wheel alignment after you replace shocks. Is this correct? Since I am aligning the car anyway, I figure it is a good time to thinks about the shocks. Any suggestions? When will I know that my shocks are worn out?

Hey man, I just changed mine with some real cheap Monroe ones. the gasmatic types. Here is my point. My old ones seem to be working just fine.. in fact the valving seems stiffer than the new POS I installed yet my car handle way better!! Far better! So the point here is whats best for me may not be best for you.

My new ones keep the rear end planted on the groung in fast turns and panic stops. Something the old OEM ones never did. Oh and when I go fast on speed bumps my car is not longer attempting to catapult the rear past the front end. That was my biggest reason for replacement. I have had the top of line Monroes installed in other cars and they were the worst (for my taste) Shocks I ever had. Totally Unpredictable. I will hold my word up against any autoparst sales man who will tell you other wise.

Now if I had the money I will defenetely try the expensive ones. but sometimes the harshnes could be overwhelming. Its a compromise but if your money is burning a whole in your pocket then go for it. After all we only live once.

Im my humble opinion that is...... My lord

Your shocks are probably fine with only 46k miles on them, but the factory shocks are not very good anyways. Bilsteins if you have the money, KYBs if you don't. JMHO.

The SLP Bilstein shocks are a great way to go I think they are worth the money and have a life time garantee.Call Don Stellhorn at SLP TEL: (732)244-0867 EXT:135. Don is very helpful.

What about the KYB GR 2's and AGX's? And what about the regular shocks? Are these any good?

The stock orange shocks are only good for 60,000 miles.
