Yeah, they make alot of Mustang stuff. For the most part, they're just Chinese knockoffs...

The chinese are perfectly capable of making high quality ANYTHING.

It all depends on what the customer specs.

A friend of mine has a profession products intake and throttle body on his Mustang, and the quality is decent and the price was extremely cheap. It looks alot like the Edlebrock peice as mentioned above.

They can, but they have problems with consistency. You order green, they might all of a sudden start sending you pink because they didn't think green was that important. We've tested Chinese knock-offs of our engines, and they are low on power and they copywright infringed on our brand name by making them on a Laserjet with hand lamination. I even once bought some Chinese Super Gule at a swap meet supposedly made by the Chicagago gule company I also tested two Chinese lawnmowers and they both broke, but I was able to make one running unit from the two and get the test done. So, while they are capable, they are inconsistent with quality. It seems that, after they work at something for a while, they do get it right. But, if you ever buy any power tools or compressors from companies like Harbor Freight, it's wise to pay the extra few $ for the extended warranty.

Re: New Professional Products Throttlebodies smokin!!!

$230 will own the market on Throttle bodies as long as they are good. My ported ones were well put together and carried a lifetime warranty. At $150 a pop I sold a few hundred of them over the years. I made the last one to go on my car not long ago, and at $230 I would probably pick ones of those up if I hadn't. They aren't as expensive to make as the price portrays.

Keep use informed of them

If they work well, I could see someone making some money with the LT1 crowd as the next cheapest is around 300$

Re: New Professional Products Throttlebodies smokin!!!

I saw it in person at SEMA and it looked nothing like that picture. The picture on page 19 is of a polished or billet unit and the one at SEMA was a cast unit. It honestly looked exactly like the BBK/Edlebrock piece. For the price I would be willing to try it out. It looks like 1 part number for all years, comes with linkages for all different years and avalible in polished or cast. I guess the one I saw was the cast piece.

BTW, they make several products for the LT1. I remember seeing an SFI approved balancer from them also at SEMA check out page 33...

I don't dispute that you had problems with the vendor(s) you used.

However, the chinese don't have some sort of inherent problem with consistancy any more than they do with quality. I've had experience with very high quality chinese products, although as far as I can tell the chinese vendors in the autoparts business are focused on hitting a price point as opposed to a quality standard.

Re: New Professional Products Throttlebodies smokin!!!

I was looking at the damper, the downside is the weight. If they could make a lightweight one like ATI does I might bite.
The make one PN with accessories to fit multiple applications just makes sense the way they are offering one LT1 damper wether b-body f-body and wether it was OBD1 or 2 with the CPS requiring a different hub depth, same with the TB the difference between the 94+ LT1 and the 93 down LT1 and TPI is just a little linkage. I actually have a Edelbrock/BBk TB for a 93 f-body on my Caprice the kickdown tab is just not used. They get a comprehensive product line and low inventory to cover a huge array of applications.

Uh, easy killer...go back and reread my post. Nowhere in my post did I say ANYTHING about the Chinese not being able to make high quality products. There is no doubt about that. My beef is that they (Prof. Products) are not using their own designs (at least on the Mustang products I've seen thus far), and simply "rip off" other's ideas. To this point, I've NEVER seen Professional Products come to market with an "original" idea. Maybe in time that will change. Kevin also brought up a great point about consistency...

Besides, when ever possible I prefer to support American products and the people that make them. I realize it's not always possible, but it's the same reason I virtually never shop at places like Walmart anymore. Ok, I'll get off the soapbox!

Re: New Professional Products Throttlebodies smokin!!!

I have used a Professional products "air-gap" type manifold and to be honest I wasn't overly impressed. It was an alright intake if you wanted to go ahead and clean up all casting flaws, and open it up...but I wouldn't bolt it right up, it left alot to be desired, the quality didn't seem all that good. I was interested in buying one of there SFI balancers they offer but heard of multiple people that were using it, and it rubbed there opti cap, and continued to do so. There were a few on here and a few local that called about it and they said they were redesigning it, and they would be able to exchange it for the newer design..but never heard if it ever came out. Some things in my eyes are worth the extra cash, i would def consider a throttle body to be one of them....you get what ya pay for.
