Question New Pro-Magnum rockers sound like a sewing machine?

I just got done doing my XE 224/230 install and installed CC Pro-magnum self-aligning rockers. When at idle they sound like a sewing machine and at high rpm they have a chchchchchch noise. This is the first time I have every adjusted rockers on our cars and was wondering if the sound is correct. I just remember you guys saying you want a nice click and not a clack, but mine is more like a swoosh from a sewing machine. My car makes great power though, 322.6 rwhp at the dyno and the graph is smooth as can be. Are my rockers a little on the loose side or just perfect?

Jeff

P.S. I tighten them just a hair under 1/2 past zero lash. Just wondering if I need to go 3/4 past zero lash.

They do sound like a sewing machine but you should also make sure your exhaust manifold bolts are snug.

If you think its louder than normal than you should start the car with the valve covers off and see if any rockers jump around. You can tighten them with the engine running.

and if you do start the car w/o the valve covers on, get ready to clean some oil off the engine bay. And you will smell it prolly for a day or so.

The pro mags are a lil noisier. I have the same cam except i have the hi lift version (.605/.622). You can hear them but it isn't a bunch of racket either.

What lifters are you using? If stock, I'd try 3/4 past zero. If you're using Comp R's, go 1/8 past zero not matter how loud it sounds. Best way to adjust is to adjust them while the car is running. Loosen until it makes noise, slowly tighten until the "clacking" goes away (thats zero), then add 3/4 turn. As few well placed pieces of cardboard will minimize the mess.
