new pilot bushing looks different than old one, is this normal?

In the middle of my clutch install, and now I've noticed the new pilot bushing is different, the stock one is the same until you look down the hole and at just as it ends, before the back it kinda curves in. It looks kinda like a washer at the end, since it makes the hole look smaller, and it has cuts in it, the new one I have just says for GM Clutch-in part # 14650 it is a straight through design, with no backing on it. IT does have a slight bevel for the trans to slide in easier on. I am almost tempted to leave the old one on so I don't install the wrong part, plus the old one looks pretty good. Although I do like brand new items, especially considering the work involved

OK I took some pics, I'm not sure if the ring with slots in it is part of the bushing itself, or just behind it. http://community.webshots.com/album/83968269vuzDib

The pilot bushing in my car was just like that. I attributed it to wear. The new one i bought was straight through no ridge. I also helped my friend do a clutch in his car and his pilot bushing was straight through not worn. We know for sure that his car was on its original clutch. Put the new one in. If you leave that old wore out one in it could ruin the bearings in the input shaft.
