i got a problem here and need some help.. i cannot figure out what is wrong with the car,, i got the code p1371 so i check the wiring and they all looked good. so i changed the opti spark. once i installed it, it turned on fine then all of a sudden it shut off and the check gauges light came on.. i cannot figure out what is wrong at all.. please i need your help!!!!

 

What brand Opti? Did you loc-tite the rotor screws? Did you examine the harness connector for corrosion or a bent pin? Did you check again for codes?

 

the opti was the accel and yes i did loc tite the bolts.. i just got it today.. and i did check the harnss and it was all good... yeah i got the p1371 again after it shut off i was thinking i need a new ignition control module

 

P1371 code sets for the low resolution pulse in the Opti, not for the ICM.

 

damn so i guess i have to get a new one then. At least i have warranty for it ill get it tomorrow.. thanks for help man..

 

You did clear the codes after you installed the new Opti?

Check the harness again. Look for a blue-green corrosion on the pins.

 

Yeah u know what I did recheck the,harmess and it was,all messed up peeling copper to copper It was causing a shortage which messed up the new opti. ..
