new opti needed couple ?s
So I went and tested my opti spark via the method posted in shbox's website: http://shbox.com/1/4th_gen_tech2.html#opti_test. I got .8-1 volt AC (yes AC) which is just below the 1-4 volt normal opperation. It looks like I will have to replace it again and with only 6,000 miles. I have a couple questions: is it likely to be only the cap and rotor and how to determine whether the optical sensor is bad, second where is the best place to get a new opti and third does having an ignition box put additional strain on the opti.
from what i have read ignition boxes can zap opti's.
the pulse should be at least 1v from the opti, that would actually be coming from the optical sensor. (opti trigger wire is white on mine)
just as a heads up my old one read 1.8v, the new gm read 2.3v on mine
.8 sounds a little low and will probably need to be replaced.
do yourself a favor and dont waste your time with the reman opti's, i went thru 3 bad ones from autozone before i just ordered a new one from sumitt.
