new opti, have spark and fuel

So I replaced my opti, has new plugs, new battery, still won't start, could the cylinders be flooded. I'm lost with what to do. And I don't want to put another 300 in it to get it driving. 96 z28 155xxx miles.

Try pulling the opti back off and checking that you have the drive pin in the right slot. Yes, I know it can only go in one slot...and so do a bunch of guys who, somehow, got it in the wrong position....

Good luck!

Did you remove and replace the opti or are you just sure you did it right? Lots of guys are sure they did it right just to find it wasn't correct. The fact that it won't fire on starting fluid is a clue. First, to clear a flooded engine, with the key off put your accelerator pedal to the floor.crank the engine over until it starts...no more than 20 seconds. This puts the PCM in clear flood mode. If no start, pull a plug and take a look.

How are you checking for spark?

What brank opti did you install?

The fact that you have spark does not confirm it is installed correctly. Problem would appear to be the spark is occurring at the wrong time.

Good choice in he opti...

Spark at the plug indicates that he HV path is active but it doesn't indicate that e timing is right. I still recommend pulling the opti off and reseating it in the proper slot.

When you installed the opti, did it sit flush with the timing cover before installing the mounting bolts? If you had to draw it flush using the bolts, then it's definitely not indexed correctly.

Sitting flush is meaningless...

I would double check on the pin of the opti bcuz mine was doing the same exact thing as urs,I had spark but like Fred said u will see spark but the timing is off,my fuel pressure was good, the dumb mechanic just shoved my distributor back in didn't set it right,so I pulled out the opti realigned it correctly,Fred and Rob gave me the diagram of the spline. I did wat they said n it started,so keep trying u will get it
