I really havent driven my car in 2 weeks. I slipped into a ditch in a rain storm and bent some suspension stuff which was replaced. The frame may be bent a little.

My car is a lot quieter because the suspension squeeks less from the new parts. I however have noticed a new sound from outside the car while its idleing. It sounds like a tapping noise. I don't think its coming from the engine itself. It seems like it has something to do with the alternator. I have a new serpentine belt but I am missing one screw from my alternator (Will replace as soon as i find one). Is it possible that my alternator is making this noise or that the belt is hitting something and making it?

Btw, is there anything i can do to quiet down the alternators normal sound which seems kind of loud from outside the car but not at all from inside.

 

well you can take off the belt and start the car and see if the tapping is still there.

 

I really didnt take the belt off but im pretty sure it has something to do with the alternator, pullies, or a fan hitting something. I can't find what though.

i actually too have the same noise which just started a little while ago, it sounds like a ticking or clicking from the alternator, not sure what it is, ill probably mess with a few things this weekend, but not sure if ill be able to figure it out.
