New motor rebuild, need advice...

I am looking at doing a forged 355 and got 2,000$ for christmas. The only problem is the block is ruined along w/ the oil pump driveshaft, and a lot of other shattered parts. I havent completely taken it all apart yet, but 2 connecting rods got thrown and 2 pistons blown. I am expecting to need a new cam, timing set, oil pump, oil pan (blew a giant hole in it). I do not think however that 2,000$ can buy all this. I am also hoping that the heads are re-usable. Anyone have any advice on who sells cheap 4-bolt main blocks or a forged full assembly? I really hope the heads are re-usable...

thanks for the advice.

is there a place that sells fresh (un-used) 350 4-bolt main blocks? The rotating assembly wont be hard to find, its the fresh block I am having troubles with... thanks.

If you were to ever find a new factory 4-bolt main it would most likely cost more than if you were to pick up a used block and use splayed caps.
IMO I would stay away from a factory 4-bolt. A friend of mine had a MTI built 383, GTP heads and 306 cam. He ran into some oil pressure issues, tore down the block and found out MTI used a Corvette block with stock caps. All of them were broken in half except for the end caps.
Just a thought...
