new motor, lots of grind but not turning over

Its a brand new motor with everything except the slave cylinder that's installed and I get grinding from the starter on the flywheel. The belt doesn't turn much at all. Any suggestions are appreciated.

The car is on secured on a lift.

The edited: The motor grinds a lot but doesnt turn over. I'm unfamiliar of this type of starter, do I add washers to shim the starter? All parts are brand new, and the motor is professionally assemblied. Do I need to install the slave cylinder to start the car?

Possibilities include wrong starter/flywheel combo, starter needs shimmed, or flywheel just sheered some teeth off and you got a dead spot that will no longer turn the motor. Also check to see that you didn't sheer the teeth off the starter..

Cant make much sense out of your post...but it sounds like your engine is locked up.

Im using a stock starter with a spec flywheel, both brand new. I dont think the motors locked up, since its brand new.

Thinking its the starter connection, I'll check.

is it a new starter and a new flywheel

do you have the starter shimmed correctly

have you tried to turn the motor over by hand - to make sure it turns and also to try to get the starter to engage in a different spot

if you keep grinding it you will waste your new flywheel, if you havent already

The starter has 3 connections: battery on the bottom, theft relay on the left, and a connection between the starter. However I have another extremely thin black wire, does anyone know where it goes?

I removed this black wire from the starter and assuming its a ground. The motor did turn over but not fire. Then everything electrical turned off, interier lights to tailights powered off. I tried turning the key off and on, but no luck. I dismantled and reinstalled the battery and the electrical came back.

The flywheel nor starter have damage. The battery is brand new and been checking the voltage.

Do you mean NEITHER the flywheel or the started are damaged?

Problem with using the term "not turning over" is that to some people that means the starter won't crank the engine, and to others it means the starter will crank the engine, but the engine won't start.

The flywheel and starter do not have damage. The starter cranks the engine but won't start. Then the electrical system deads, thing from the radio to the console does not have power. Wondering if its does not have something to do with the alarm system? Could the car have an alarm system thats killing the power?

The black wire is the PCM ground that goes to the block near the starter.

the black wire is a direct positive from battery.

The larger black is from the battery and the thinner one is a ground. I rerouted the wires but just at the same problem. I'm going to reprogram the keyless system, maybe thats it
