New motor having problems starting

Just a basic run down:

1st time I tried to start the motor, as soon as I touched the neg side of the batt, it would try to turn over by itself.

2nd time, I turn the key (after switching the 2 eyelets by the starter, car no longer tries to turn over by itself) i get nothing, just the fuel pump on msd 6 on, nothing from the starter.

Any ideas? Anything helps.

Does the motor turn over? Does the starter move? If not might need a new starter. Take it to azone and have it tested.

You might have had it on the right one the first time but it was angled so that it was touching both posts. Seems like that would cause what you described but then when you switched them you get nothing now. Might want to just try switching it back but double checking that it's not touching another connector or post thing.

Re: New motor having problems starting

got the beast started, only to find out a min or 2 later there was 2-3 qts of oil on the ground. the oil is coming fromt the back, and looks like its in the bell housing. if you go here you can see the 3 plugs in the back of the block. im really at a loss on this one. oil sending unit behind the intake is cherry, the plug is in above the oil filter, and its a 1 piece felpro oil pan gasket so i cant see it spewing that much oil in such a short time (2-3 min).

anyways, i think im going to drop the tranny to see wtf is going on.
